Trad Tuesday - Uileann Pipes vs Bag Pipes

Probably everyone knows what bagpipes are and what they sound like. Their less well-known cousins are the Uileann pipes.
Bagpipes are from Scotland and are inflated by blowing the bag through a blow-pipe. Uileann pipes, on the other hand, originated in Ireland and are inflated by a bellows held under the arm and pumped.

Here are Richard Parkes from Newtownards, Co.Down on bagpipes, and Trevor Stewart from Belfast on Uilleann Pipes, playing a hornpipe called Jimmy Blue, followed by a selection of jigs.
