Trad Tuesday - The Wild Goose by Kate Rusby

Today's selection for Trad Tuesday is Kate Rusby singing The Wild Goose. Kate Rusby comes from Barnsley, Yorkshire and is a well-known folk singer in Europe. She is absolutely one of my favorites - I drove across England a few years ago (wrong side of the road and all that) to see her perform in Shrewsbury. On my bucket list is to go to her Under the Stars Festival held in Barnsley each summer.

The Wild Goose is an old English shanty, but it may have older origins. The Wild Geese are what Irish expatriates are known by. Shanties were songs song by sailors as they performed tasks on board a ship.
