Trad Tuesday: The Fields of Athenry sung by The Dubliners


This song was actually written in the 1970's by Pete St. John, but is about the Great Famine of the 1840's. A fictitious man named Michael has been sentenced to transportation because he stole food for his starving family.

The Dubliners are a famous Irish folk band founded in 1962.
